speaking of cars that were known to catch on fire...
my first car. '78 pinto runabout with all-glass hatch and 4-speed manual. bought it for $3,600, drove it for six years, 108,000 miles, sold it for $900
* because it might catch on fire!
“The Secret Service wouldn’t let me drive it. * But I liked sitting in it,” The President told the assembled audience. “It was nice. I’ll bet it drives real good.”

yeah but did he get the job?
Sacramento police responded to a call at about 12:30 p.m. Saturday that a naked male Hispanic adult had entered a welding shop in the 1600 block of Juliesse Avenue and was rambling incoherently.
Shop owner Chris Johnson called police after escorting Jose Ayala, who asked for a job interview, out of his shop.

this is the norm
The theatrics that captivate the country during March Madness begin in the fall. Every week, as some folks dismiss the national college basketball scene, the game offers something amazing, something worth watching and enjoying.
shooting stars
Imagine you're floating freely in the vacuum between galaxies — just you, your gun and a single bullet. You have two options. You either can spend all of eternity trying to figure out how you got there, or you can shoot the damn cosmos.
If you do the latter, Newton's third law dictates that the force exerted on the bullet will impart an equal and opposite force on the gun, and, because you're holding the gun, you. With very few intergalactic atoms against which to brace yourself, you'll start moving backward (not that you’d have any way of knowing). If the bullet leaves the gun barrel at 1,000 meters per second, you — because you're much more massive than it is — will head the other way at only a few centimeters per second.

torque's cheap
As good as diesel power is for enhancing torque, there's nothing better than electric power, most electric engines develop maximum torque from the point of first revolution. That being the case, hybrid petrol/electric combinations have torque outputs to envy and Honda's new two-door sport coupe, simply badged CRZ, has torque figures that are absolutely amazing. Labelled integrated motor assist, the CRZ has a petrol/electric engine combination which has maximum torque developed between 1000rpm and 1500rpm with a combined output of 174Nm.

“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years.”
